Regular Show: Hidden Gem For All Ages

I got turned onto this show recently by +Gisel Ocañas . And I have to say, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it this much. See, I'm one of those dorks that love Japanese Animation. That means I'm used to animation falling into one of two categories.

1) Cutesy stupid shit for kids

2) Way over the top stuff for adults with like, nudity and arms getting chopped off, and like def leppard album covers and shit.

I'd forgotten about a lost art...

Truly brilliant writers can make a cartoon that's great for kids, but still contain a goldmine of inside jokes for adults. Regular Show does this with aplomb. Like, if you are drinking something, the double entendres will make you spit your drink. That good.

The references cycle back and forth between things that are obvious 80's references, to things that get increasingly more Dennis Miller in their obscurity. In one episode I saw a reference to an episode of season 2 of Stargate SG1. I had to do a double take, rewind it, and make sure I saw what I saw.

Still, even if you don't get any of the references, this is still a show that won't make you want to stab yourself in the neck with a fork (blues clues, dora, teletubbies) and your kids will love it.

Watch this show!
